Stage 1⚓
Bring a ball to be used later.
Explain to your students that today they will talk about themselves.
Say: ‘Hello. I'm [your name]. I'm from [place where you live]. I'm [your age].'
Say: “ Now I want to get to know you.”
Stage 2⚓
Say: “I need a volunteer.(wait for a student to volunteer). Thank you, [volunteer's name].'
Say: ‘Hello. What's your name?'
Student answers.
Say: ‘I'm [your name]. Nice to meet you.' Elicit Nice to meet you too from the student.

How old are you?
Where are you from?
and elicit answers.
Repeat with 1 or 2 more students.
Stage 3⚓
Explain to students they will be working pairs to ask and answer the questions.
Say: ‘You work in pairs. Student A asks and Student B answers. Then you swap roles. You have 5 minutes.'
Put students in pairs using numbers. Count around the classroom 1-2-3-4 giving each student a number. Then put 1s and 4s together, and 2s and 3s together.
Say: ‘Ones and fours work together. Twos and threes work together. Let's start!'
Anna: What is your name?
Badou: My name is Badou.
Anna: I am Anna. Nice to meet you!
Badou: Nice to meet you too!
Anna: How old are you?
Badou: I am 10 years old.
Anna: Where are you from?
Badou: I am from Thies.
Stage 4⚓
Say: ‘You are going to answer my question when I pass you the ball.' Pass the ball and ask What's your name? A student answers the question. Then that student passes the ball to another student and asks any of the questions. Students continue passing the ball around the classroom asking and answering questions.
